How to Reach Gulmarg
Gulmarg sits at an elevation of around 9000 ft in the Kashmir region, nestled within the Pir Panjal range. The destination can be accessed via road, train, and air travel.
By Car: Gulmarg is situated 56 Km to the North West of Srinagar and can be accessed by road from any area in the country by traveling through Jammu-Udhampur-Srinagar-Tangmarg-Gulmarg. In the winter months, the valley receives snowfall, and the journey from Tangmarg to Gulmarg (12 Km) may require a sturdy 4×4 vehicle or tires equipped with snow chains.
By Air: Traveling by air to Gulmarg starts from the nearest airport located in Srinagar, which has flights connecting to Delhi and other major cities in the country. Upon arrival at the airport, travelers can easily find taxis to take them to Gulmarg. However, during the winter season, not all taxis may be equipped to travel all the way to Gulmarg due to weather conditions. In such cases, it is advisable to hire a vehicle that can take you to Tangmarg, where 4×4 vehicles or those with snow chains are available for the onward journey to Gulmarg. The total travel time from Srinagar to Gulmarg by road usually takes approximately 2 hours.
By Train: Good news is that Srinagar is now connected by rail to the rest of the country by Vande Bharat train service. Srinagar railway station is the nearest railway to Gulmarg. From there you can get the cab to reach Gulmarg.
