Best Time for Gurez Valley Trek

The best time to undertake Gurez Valley trek is in summer, lasting from July to September. Since it is the monsoon season in Northern India, the idea seems baffling. During this time of  the year, states like Uttarakhand and Himachal receive heavy snowfall and treks are closed.

The scenario is a bit different in Kashmir valley. The Pir Panjal Range, separating the valley from the rest of the Indian subcontinent, doesn’t allow the entry of monsoon clouds. Occasional rainfall is experienced that rarely affects your itinerary of the trek. For the rest of the year, Gurez Valley is covered in thick snow and is inaccessible.
