Kashmir to Ladakh – A Complete Traverse is our comprehensive road travel. This itinerary encompasses the most prominent places in both regions. This includes famous places like Srinagar, Sonamarg, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam in the Kashmir region. Leh, Kargil, Nubra, Pangong, Tso Moriri of Ladakh. Apart from these famous and most visited places, our traverse covers exotic and historic places like Aryan Valley, Turtuk, Siachin, Tso Kar Lake, and Hanle.

Detailed Itinerary

Welcome to Kashmir. Our representative will receive you at the airport/railway station and the cab will drive you to the hotel/houseboat. If you arrive early in the day, spend time exploring Dal Lake in the unique experience of Shikara Ride. Take a walk around the famous Boulevard road – the embankment of Dal Lake.

Night stay at Srinagar.

Spend this day in exploring the entire Srinagar. Our driver cum guide will show you the best places here. Start with Mughal Gardens – Shalimar, Nishat, Chashma Shahi. Take a drive to the famous Pari Mahal. Further during the day, visit Shankaracharya temple which is atop a small hill in the city.

Night Stay at Srinagar.

On this day drive towards the famous Pahalgam – the land of shepherds. We will be exploring the places that come en route. Stop at the largest Saffron Fields in Asia – The Pampore Saffron Fields. Just a few kilometers away are the ancient temple ruins of Awantipora and the famous cricket bat factories. As you will be reaching neared to Pahalgam, you will see a string of apple orchards – one of the largest apple orchards in Kashmir. Stop here to experience apple picking and have some fresh apple juices

Night stay at Pahalgam.

On this day we can visit the best places in Pahalgam. Drive out to see the famous ABC of Pahalgam – Aru, Betaab, and Chandanwari. If you are an adventure lover, embark on the journey of pony riding or hiking to the mini Switzerland of Kashmir – Baisaran Valley.

Note: All sightseeing in Pahalgam comes under Union Transportation.

On this day, post breakfast drive to the famous Gulmarg Resort. On the way, you can explore the famous Drung Waterfall. At Gulmarg, take the famous Gondola Ride, and visit the St Mary’s church, Temple, Golf Course, Maharaja Palace, Strawberry Farm, and Gulmarg market.

Drive to Sonamrg. On the way explore the paddy fields of Sindh valley and the Sindh river. At Sonamarg visit the famous Thajwas Glacier and sanctuary. You can also visit the zero point Zojila Pass – the mountain pass that connects Kashmir to Ladakh.

This is the most scenic drive you will see of both Kashmir and Ladakh. The drive starts from the famous Sonamarg and goes via Zojile Pass. The pass is the only mountain pass that connects Kashmir to Ladakh. On the way to Kargil, you will see the famous Drass Valley. The second coldest inhabited place on earth. This valley is full of warm people and amazing landscapes. You must stop at Drass for a cup of local tea. Further, stop at the Kargil War Memorial. The memorial is built for the brave soldiers who laid life for the country during the Kargil War.

Welcome to the Land of High Passes. Our driver will pick you up from Leh Airport and drive to the hotel. Since Leh is at a high altitude, take a rest for acclimatization.  

Night stay at Leh.

This is the most scenic drive you will see of both Kashmir and Ladakh. The drive starts from the famous Sonamarg and goes via Zojile Pass. The pass is the only mountain pass that connects Kashmir to Ladakh. On the way to Kargil, you will see the famous Drass Valley. The second coldest inhabited place on earth. Night Stay at Kargil.

We will spend this day exploring the best places in Leh. You will visit the famous Shanti Stupa, Leh Palace, Leh Market, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, and Hall of Fame. 

Night stay at Leh. 

After breakfast, drive to Nubra Valley – the Valley of Flowers and the quietest region in Ladakh via the famous Khardungla pass. Experience the thrill of a road trip over one of the highest motorable roads in the world. En route, admire the spectacular views of the snow-capped mountain ranges. Take a stop at Khardungla, click some memorable pictures, and then continue downwards to Nubra. 

In Nubra, indulge in activities like ATV riding (On a direct payment basis). After Hotel check-in, visit the 108 ft high Maitriya Buddha Statue at Diskit Monastery. At Hunder Sand Dunes do the dune bashing and ride on the double-humped camel (on a direct payment basis) and have a wonderful time at Nubra Valley. 

Night stay at Nubra.

After breakfast drive to the famous Turtuk Valley. This valley was first thrown open for tourists in 2010. The entire region was under Pakistan’s control until 1971 when India gained control during the war of 1971. This is the culturally rich place of Balti settlements and it has the best of the landscape. 

Here you will see the border between India and Pakistan. The outmost village here is the Thang village which connects to Pakistan. You can see from here Pakistan army posts and the village across the border. It is here that the Shyok River which you have seen and will see in the Nubra region, enters Pakistan and disappears. 

Cliffhangers high recommendation is to taste the local food here and take a walk through old Turturk village which has Balti Heritage House – a mini museum to preserve the Balti culture and architecture. People are warm here and welcome you with a smile. 

Return to Nubra.

Night stay at Nubra Valley. 

 

We will start the day with a beautiful drive along the Shyok River.  From the Agyam bridge, we will take the left route which leads us to the villages of Shyok and Durbuk. After Durbuk, take a left towards Tangtse and follow the traditional route. Drive further and we will reach the breathtaking Pangong Lake – one of the largest naturally formed brackish lakes in the Himalayas.  This entire drive is completely rewarding.

Pangong Lake is at 14000 ft height and more than half of the lake is within China. As you face the lake, the right side is China. Only one-third part of the lake lies in India. Explore this majestic lake and if you are lucky you might see some rare wildlife. Once here, visit the famous 3 Idiot shooting point, and try local food at any of the small restaurants around the Lakeshore. Later during free time enjoy the colour-changing lake as the sun sets on the lake. Wake up early morning to experience the gorgeous view of the sunrise. 

Night stay at Pangong. 

After breakfast, drive to Hanle via the famous Man, Merak, Tsaga-la, Chushul, and Rezang-la. Hanle is very near to the China border. Hanle has become very famous as it was announced as India’s Dark Sky Reserve. It is famous for star gazing and observing the celestial bodies. Take some time and visit the observatory. The local guides here will let you experience the starry nights with the help of some gadgets. 

Do not forget to explore the very small local village life here. Also, visit the famous Hanle Monastery which was built in the 17th century.

On this day drive to the gorgeous Tso Moriri Lake via Nyoma and Mahe Bridge. The drive is utterly scenic. The lake is situated at a height of 4,522 meters and is 19km long, and 3km wide.  The lake is a Ramsar wetland and has varied species of migratory birds. Apart from the lake, visit the Korzok monastery which is on top of the village here, and experience the surreal feeling of taking a walk along the bank of the lake. 

Walking along the shores of the lake during sunset time is so surreal experience.
