Best time to visit
Now that you might be considering to visit Yarab Tso Lake we will tell you about the best time to visit Yarab Tso Lake in Ladakh.The best time to visit this Lake in Nubra Valley, Ladakh is definitely during the summer or monsoon months from May till September. The climate during the summer months is comparatively warmer and pleasant. The roads reaching Ladakh and Yarab Tso Lake are all open from May till September. Some tourists though, are curious to know about visiting Yarab Tso during winter.
You may visit this Lake during winter but the weather is too cold and the lake is frozen. The vicinity of this Lake in winter can be freezing cold, hence, the best time to visit this Lake is from May till September. From November till February the climate can be extremely cold here.

How is the lake in Winter?
Ladakh has become a sought after tourist destination even in winter regardless of the inconvenience of closed roads and extremely cold climate. Winters at Yarab Tso are also like all other places in Ladakh in winter, freezing cold! Places near lakes in Ladakh are generally colder than some other places near the foothills, towns and villages. Yarab Tso Lake is situated on a higher altitude. It is one of the highest lakes in Nubra valley. So, the lake is frozen during the winters. The temperatures at this place during winter can be extremely low going down to about -30°C.

Yarab Tso Lake Trek is still not such a famous trek option like some of the other famous treks of Ladakh such as the Nubra Valley Trek, Pangong Tso Lake Trek, etc but Yarab Tso Trek has also started receiving its handful of enthusiasts.
How to Reach
Yarab Tso can be reached by a short trek via Panamik. Panamik is at a distance of 150 km from Leh. Yarab Tso Lake is situated near Sumur village. The total distance from Leh to Yarab Tso Lake is around 180 km.
One can also reach Yarab Tso from the Diskit monastery. The distance between Diskit monastery and Yarab Tso Lake is a mere 15 km which can be covered by driving.
A tiny uphill climb of around 20-30 minutes can get you to Yarab Tso Lake. You can be a part of a Nubra Valley Trek and visit this beautiful Lake as a part of it. Other famous places during the Nubra Valley Trek are Sunder sand dunes, Pangong lake and Turtuk village.
