December to February

Higher altitude regions receive more snowfall and the weather is extremely chilly there. It may not be the peak time but different winter sports can still be fully enjoyed. March to April
Spring in Kashmir is very short-lived but you can definitely visit it. Hotels and other tourist places start to open after being partially closed for winters. The benefit of visiting Kashmir in spring is that it is not very crowded this time and due to not being the peak season, you get good deals on hotels and other stuff.
As far as weather is considered. You would feel cold during daytime as well as at night. Temperature is between 10 to 20°C and minimises to 5°C in the evenings. You can still see snow around, by the sides of roads but chances of a live snow is very rare. The lakes and rivers start to melt after being frozen for the whole winter. Activities like paragliding, trekking, hiking can be accessed. The scenic views get cleared up and you see a blend of snow-laden mountains and green landscape.
It is important to pack some cotton as well as warm clothes, given the unpredictable climate.
October to November
It is neither too cold nor too hot in autumn. People still visit kashmir during this time. Weather is cold but not freezing and the temperature hovers between 10°C to 20°C. During nights, in later days of November, it dips down below zero sometimes. There are very low chances of live snowfall in Srinagar but it is experienced in high-altitude regions.
The whole valley is flushed with different shades of hues and leaves on Chinner and Pine trees turns from green to golden. Sunsets and sunrises are just mesmerising. There’s a hint of freshness that you can sense in the morning air. It is crisp and soothing.

Perfect 7 Days Itinerary for Kashmir Trip
Day 1 Arrival in Srinagar
First day of the trip will mark your arrival in the summer capital of Jammu And Kashmir, Srinagar. You will be picked by our driver at the airport or station. He will take you to your hotel or houseboat, whichever you have chosen as your accommodation. You should rest for sometime. If you have some time in the evening you can explore some attractions.
Hop on the Shikara Ride in Dal lake. It is very popular in Srinagar and quite soothing. You will be ridden around the island, surrounded by Chinar trees.
Spend your evening strolling around the Boulevard Road, which is Dal Lake’s Embankment too. Call it a day and rest through the night in Srinagar.
Day 2 Sightseeing in Srinagar
It is going to be a long yet fun day. You will explore the entire city of Srinagar on a smooth ride with our driver. You can start this one day journey by visiting the famous Mughal gardens including Shalimar Bagh, Chashme Shahi, Nishat and Botanical Gardens here. Our driver will also act like your guide, telling you interesting facts and anecdotes about these places.
These gardens have long canals and gushing waterfalls with vibrant Tulip flowers, sprouting and attracting tourists. After these Gardens, Pari Mahal will be your next stop. Carry your Aadhar Card or any other ID proofs here, as you might need it. Our last destination of the day would be the ancient Shankaracharya Temple. It is located at the top of a hill in Srinagar.

Day 3 Drive to Pahalgam
On the third day of the trip, after having our breakfast in the morning, we will head out to Pahalgam, famously known as Valley of Shepherds. This drive will not be boring as we will explore some attractions lying on the way. You will spot the largest Saffron Fields of Asia- The Pampore Saffron Fields. Stop here and take a look around. After driving for a few kilometres, there is the ancient temple ruins of Awantipora.

Day 4 Sightseeing in Pahalgam
Pahalgam is known to have some of the vast valleys of Kashmir and we will spend the whole day exploring them. The three famous valleys of Kashmir- Aru, Betaab and Chandanwari would be our target. As you say goodbye to Lolab, on your way further, you will see the largest freshwater lake of India- The Wular Lake. moving upward to the hilly side from Bandipora, you will come across the Razdan Pass and the scenic views here will capture your heart. After reaching Gurez, you will be taken to the famous Kishanganga river which also happens to be the lifeline of the valley. The river originates in India and then finds its way further in Pakistan. A large dam is built over it where you can spend some time.

How Much Does a Trip to Kashmir Cost?
Transportation costs ( breakdown of cots for airfare, train tickets, and road travel): Flight tickets to Kashmir depend on which city you are boarding. Taking an example, the one-way flight tickets from Delhi to Srinagar cost around INR 5000 to 7000.
The nearest station is Jammu Tawi station and this again depends on your location and the class of the train that you choose.
For train tickets , it will cost around INR 1000 to 3000.
Kashmir trip cost is an another viable option for planning your trip to Kashmir. The mileage of the vehicle will decide the fuel and total cost required. Keep some spare fuel as well.
For day-to-day travel, a sedan is for INR 1800 per day. They are luxurious and comfortable. It will include full-day sightseeing. It is suitable for 3 people. For an Innove, INR 2000 per day will be the cost. It contains airport transfers too.
Accommodation Expenses: For a standard hotel, you will have to pay 3000 for two people for five nights. Breakfast and dinner included.
Food and Dining: Breakfast and dinner is included in your Kashmir tour package. For lunch, you can go out. A veg thali per person will cost you around 150-200. If you add non-veg to it, then you will have to pay INR 300 approximately.

Gulmarg
Gulmarg stands at the top among the popular attractions to be visited by travellers in Kashmir.
It is a recognised skiing destination, and you will find it quite crowded in winters especially in January and february.

Pahalgam

Lolab Valley
One of the most remote areas of kashmir, Lolab is a military sensitive area due to its proximity to the border. It is at a distance of about 114 kms from Srinagar.
It is also called the fruit bowl of kashmir due to various fruit orchards found here. You can find apricots, apples, and berries in ample amounts.
The mysterious Kalaroos Caves and Sattbaran are the highlights of this place. There are numerous forests, meadows and paddy fields here to be explored.
Sonamarg

Gurez Valley
Gurez valley is a rare gem of Kashmir, still unexplored though. Dawar Village is one of the highlights of Gurez valley where you can interact with locals.

It is in the Bandipora district and is fed by the Jhelum River.

How to reach Kashmir
By Flight: Srinagar Airport is the only one and flights are the quickest way to reach Kashmir. It takes just a few hours saving time and the risk of cancellation. Regular flights are scheduled from major Indian cities to Srinagar. Book your flight tickets in advance prior to 2-3 months to get good deals. By Train: Jammu Tawi Railway Station is the nearest station to where different trains operate from cities. They are affordable and an assured way to reach Kashmir. On reaching the station, our driver will be there to pick you and take you to Srinagar.
By Road: The main road connecting Kashmir to different cities is National Highway 1D which also links Jammu to Srinagar. Choose a car that has travelled long distances before with a good mileage. Keep some spare fuel. You can travel to nearby cities from Srinagar and hire a taxi service in Srinagar for both round trips as well as one way trips.
Payment Methods In Kashmir
Online payment methods work only in cities and hill towns like Srinagar, Pahalgam, Sonamarg and Gulmarg. Even hotels accept credit/debit cards.
However, you must carry some cash to buy stuff from local places or places that accept cash only. It is quite prominent in off-beat places because network coverage is quite weak there and sometimes non-existent. Carry the cash from your home itself as you won’t even find ATMs for a hundred kilometres on some days. It is advisable to follow such important measures.

Clothes: pack appropriate clothes according to the weather conditions. It is always more or less cold in Kashmir, so carry warm clothes like thermals, jackets along with accessories like gloves, a beanie, a few pairs of socks and a sturdy yet comfortable pair of boots. A raincoat is a must if you are visiting in the monsoon season. Cotton clothes should be in your bag if your trip is in the summer.

Above all, eat a clean and balanced diet.
Once you are in Kashmir, take some time to acclimatise in Srinagar before going to high-altitude regions. It is crucial to avoid high-altitude sickness and the symptoms that come around with it. It can literally ruin your whole trip.
Don’t eat anything at any place. Check if proper hygiene is followed and only after full assurement , sit to dine at that particular place. Carry your own water bottle and dry fruits to snack during road trips.

Language & Network Connectivity in Kashmir
The foremost thing to know is that only postpaid sims work in Kashmir Valley. BSNL has good coverage. Airtel and Jio too while Vodafone lacks a bit.
Again, it also depends on the location. Data connectivity is good in Srinagar, Pahalgam, Sonamarg but it is little to non-existent in remote areas. People know Hindi and English, so if you speak them in a decent manner, you are good to go. Be polite with the locals.
Travel restrictions & Guidelines to Visit Kashmir
There are no travel restrictions as such to travel to Kashmir and we do not meet any permit to visit kashmir. All Indians can visit Kashmir without any permission required.
For all foreigners, a normal Indian visa is required which allows them to travel all over India including Kashmir.
However there are some places where foreigners are not allowed like Gurez Valley. Here only Indians are allowed to enter.
There were some rules and regulations post-covid for a few months but since it is a long-gone story, they are not in the running anymore. You can safely visit Kashmir without any worries.
