By Rail: The nearest railhead to Shimla is the Kalka Railway Station. It lies at a distance of around 90 kilometres from the main city centre. While the journey is about 5-6 hours long, it is totally worth it. The scenic trail that follows as you travel via Kalka-Shimla toy trains is memorable. In the entire day, around 4-5 toy trains operate from Kalka to Shimla.
